Bassett Qualifies for
Cross Country National Championship
This
past weekend the Wellesley cross country team competed at the NCAA Division III New
England Regional Cross Country Championship on the Twin Brooks
recreational course in
Cumberland, Maine. The team did outstandingly, placing 6 out
of 7 of their runners all under 100, giving them a team score
of 250 points. Teammates Tracy Bassett and Sarah Bard placed
ninth and 30th respectively, earning them All-New
England Team honors. Bassett’s ninth place finish also secured
her one of the four individual bids to the NCAA Division III
National Cross Country Championships in Eau Claire, Wisconsin
this coming weekend. Tracy who has been a powerful force for
Wellesley this year, placing first in several races including
the Wellesley Invitational and NEWMACs, also posted a Wellesley
history best for placement at an NCAA Regional Championship.
