Wellesley Finishes Second at Ray Dwyer Invitational
WARWICK, R.I. – Junior
Anya Ravitz (Hopkinton, Mass.) placed seventh in a field of 75
runners to lead the Wellesley Cross Country
team to a second place finish at the Ray Dwyer Invitational, hosted
Rhode Island College on Saturday in Warwick. Ravitz ran the course
in 19:51.99 as the Blue scored 49 points in the six team event.
NEWMAC foe Coast Guard Academy won the event with 17 points.
Sophomore Jessica
Weng (Paramus, N.J.) and senior Katie Hutchinson (Canterbury,
N.H.) were on Ravitz’s heels as the pair, who
both ran personal records in the event, seized eighth and nine
places respectively. Weng finished in a time of 19:59.79 and Hutchinson
crossed the line at 20:03.24.
Katie
Gosling (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Katrina
Utz (Middletown, R.I.) wrapped
up the scoring for Wellesley. Gosling’s time
of 20:14.38 was good enough for 12th place, and Utz nabbed 15th
in a time of 20:30.76.
The Blue will race next Saturday at the Mount Holyoke Invitational
with a start time of 12 PM.
