Wellesley Wins Salem College Invitational with
Perfect Score of 15
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wellesley Cross Country team
finished first out of seven teams at the 2nd Annual Salem College
Cross Country Invitational
in Winston-Salem on Saturday morning. The Blue earned a perfect
15 points in the race, sweeping the top eight places and taking
the first 12 out of 15 finishes.
First-year Clare Egan (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) led the way for
the Blue, winning the race and smashing the previous Salem College
5000 meter course record of 22:07 as she finished the course in
19:22. All 12 Wellesley runners had a stellar race as all 12 team
members broke previous course record of 22:07 in the invitational.
