Northhampton, Mass. – Mt. Holyoke used two second half goals to defeat three-time defending champion Wellesley College 2-1 in the 2002 Seven Sisters Field Hockey Championship in Northampton, Mass., Sunday.
Mt. Holyoke’s Liz Hughes converted a Lauren Weiner assist 15 minutes into the second half of action to tie the score 1-1. Wellesley had taken a 1-0 advantage early in the first half following a goal from Marret Arfsten (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown). The Lyons then clinched the game when Courtney Logan blasted a shot into the goal with just 10 seconds remaining in the regulation. ## |
