Masiello's three goals, all of which were unassisted, gives her a team-high eight for 2002. With 40 goals in her career, Masiello needs nine more goals to claim the Wellesley career-record. The current record of 48 is held by Alix Wandesforde-Smith '98. With the score tied at 0-0 late in the first half, Masiello knocked in an unassisted goal with seven minutes remaining in the half. Less than a minute later, Masiello gave Wellesley a 2-0 cushion beating Smith keeper Sydney Siegal with 6:35 remaining in the first half. Down 3-0 with 17 minutes remaining, after Masiello scored her third straight goal of the game with 22:23 on the clock, Smith's Becky Spaulding finished an Amanda Clemons assist to cut the Wellesley lead 3-1. Wellesley's Marrett Arfsten (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) tallied the Blue's final goal of the game with just over 10 minutes remaining on a penalty corner. Wellesley returns to action Tuesday, October 1 in a non-conference match-up with Connecticut College. A 4:30 start time is scheduled.
