Wellesley Defeats Amherst 359-374 in First Golf Action of the
Spring
Kiawa Island, South Carolina. – First-year
Darene Matsuoka (Honolulu, Hawaii) shot a team-best 81 to lead Wellesley
to a 359-374 win over Amherst College at Turtle Point in Kiawa Island,
South Carolina. Susan Choi (Valley Stream, N.Y. ) was just
three shots off of Matsuoka shooting an 84 for Wellesley.
It was Wellesley’s first action of the 2003 spring season
and the second time the Blue had faced Amherst on the links in 2002-03.
Amherst edged Wellesley 370-376 in the fall to claim the 2002 Wellesley
Invitational.
Wellesley returns to action Saturday April 5 at the Boston College
Invitational.
