Wellesley Golf Finishes Fourth At Northeast Championship
Amherst, Mass. – The Wellesley College
Golf team finished fourth out of 12 teams at the 2003 Northeast
Golf Championship at Hickory Ridge and The Orchard in Amherst, Mass.
Wellesley shot a 358 the first day and a 356 in the second round
to finish the two day event with a team score of 714. Boston
College finished first overall with a 656, while Boston University
followed with 700 and Amherst was third with a team score of 712.
Wellesley’s Darene Matsuoka (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished fourth
out of 65 golfers with a two-day total of 168. Matsuoka shot an
87 during the first day of competition and then followed with an
81. Matsuoka finished 18 strokes of the lead as Kori Goulet of Boston
College finished first overall with a 150.
Wellesley’s Susan Choi (Valley Stream, N.Y.) also finished
in the top ten for the Blue, placing ninth overall with a two-day
total of 170.
