WELLESLEY GOLF PLACES NINTH AT MOUNT HOLYOKE INVITATIONAL
SOUTH HADLEY, MASS. – Wellesley's Susan
Choi (Woodmere, N.Y.) placed second overall to lead Wellesley to
ninth place finish at the 2004 Mount Holyoke Golf Invitational at
the par-72 Orchards Golf Course in South Hadley, Sunday. Choi finished
the tournament just one stroke off of individual medalist Kelly
Cramp of McDaniel, shooting a opening round 79 and a second round
76 for a two-day total of 155. Cramp shot an 80 in the opening round
and fired a second round 74 for the win.
Wellesley placed ninth with a team score of (385-347) 732, finishing
ahead of Fairfield (749), Holy Cross (756), SUNY-Cortland (773)
and Vassar (909). Wellesley golfers enjoyed a much improved second
round as each player improved their scores by several strokes.
Sophomore Jen Hazelton shot (93-90) 183 while first-years Jennifer
Jenq shot (109-93) 202, Kristin Neff shot (107-100) 207.
Sophomore Jena Roche had the greatest stroke differential from the
first to second round improving her finish by 18 strokes. In the
first day of the tourney, Roche fired a 106 and came back for the
second round with a season low 88.
