BOWDOIN DOWNS WELLESLEY 15-4

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –  Bowdoin first-year Taylor White (Wellesley, Mass./Milton Academy) scored four goals and added an assist to lead the Polar Bears past Wellesley 15-4 in a non-conference women’s lacrosse game, Tuesday in West Palm Beach, Fla.

White was one of three Bowdoin (2-1) players to score multiple goals en route to the win as Colleen McDonald (Greenfield, Mass.) and Hilary Abrams (Lakeville, Conn.) each tallied hat-tricks.

Wellesley (0-2) was led by two goals a piece from senior Laura Bender (Mattapoisset, Mass.) and first-year Maxine Brownstein (Roseland, N.J.). Brownstein has now scored three goals in two games and is Wellesley’s second-leading scorer behind Bender who leads the team in scoring and total points with four goals and one assist for five points.

Wellesley goalkeepers combined to stop 14 of Bowdoin’s 42 shot attempts as senior Alissa Gordon (Sudbury, Mass.) made 13 saves in 52 minutes while first-year keeper Ashleigh Korves (Riva, Md.) made three saves in eight minutes of action.  Bowdoin’s Kendal Cox (Guilford, Conn.) made seven saves in 48 minutes of action while Alex Smith (Newton, Mass.) stopped one shot in 12 minutes in goal.
