Wellesley Advances to Finals With Win Over Smith, 19-7
WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley lacrosse dominated the early minutes of its Seven Sisters semi-final, taking an 8-0 lead over Smith en route to a 19-7 win. Wellesley will face the winner of tonight's Swarthmore-Vassar game in the finals tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. Smith will play the loser of the Swarthmore-Vassar game in tomorrow's 3rd-place game, to be held at 11:00 a.m. at MacDowell Field at Babson (directions).
Wellesley was led by Casey Logan (Scituate, Mass.) with six goals. Haley Geller added four goals, while Colette Whitaker (Great Falls, Va.) and Maxine Brownstein (Roseland, N.J.) chipped in three a piece. Goalkeeper Kristin Jaronczyk (Manhasset, N.Y.) had eight saves in the win. Sara Smyth led Smith with three goals and one assist, while Emily Riff (Wayzata, Minn.) added two. Sara Smith tallied 15 saves.
