Intermediate Golf Syllabus
12 Unit Course Outline

The following syllabus is weather dependent. It is not practical, for example, to teach putting indoors, so if it is raining on the day putting would normally be taught, the schedule will be rearranged. This outline will, however, give you a sense of the general course content. Students in this class fall in a range from advanced beginners to high intermediates. Instruction and expectations will change dependent on the experience and skill level of each student.

1. Introduction

organizational and safety information
review of grip, address position, right side load, follow through
practice with mid irons

2. Pitching with pitching or sand wedge

practice 20, 40, 60 yard pitches

3. Continue work on fundamentals

introduce "laws of golf"
add short irons

4. Hitting with long irons

review with 5 iron
practice with 3 iron
review "laws of golf"

5. Putting and chipping

mechanics and practice
etiquette

6.Hitting with woods off the tee

review mechanics with 3 or 5 wood
practice with driver
discuss principles and preferences of golf

7. Hitting with fairway woods (no tees)

mechanics and practice

8. Sand play

explanation of difference in club (bounce)
mechanics and practice

9. Uphill, downhill and side hill lies

10-12. Play holes, either better ball or individual depending on skill level
