Athletic Training, Certified, Indiana State University
Connie, who has served as an athletic trainer for the 1982 and 1983 World Games, the 1984 Olympic Games, and the World Cup Women's
Lacrosse Championships (1986), coordinates the Sports Medicine program at Wellesley College.
In addition to teaching Fusion Fitness and Archery, Connie teaches Sports Medicine 205, a course for academic credit that combines the study of human anatomy, kinesiology,
and biomechanics. The focus of this course is on the evaluation, treatment
and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries. Labs provide
the clinical setting for hands-on learning with cadaver dissection
at the Mass General Hospital morgue in Boston, supplemented
by clinical labs in the Sports Center Training Room.
Connie helps direct the Keohane Sports Center Recreation program, which
offers recreational opportunities for Wellesley students in
a variety of intramural sports. Special events, such as the
Boston Marathon training program and downhill skiing, afford
students the opportunity to attain individual goals through
the recreation program. Connie also directs the Employee Wellness program, which helps faculty and staff campus-wide
to integrate exercise and healthy eating habits into their
busy lifestyles to enhance their well being.
Connie is interested in a mind/body approach to health, sports
medicine (preventive and rehabilitative protocols), and wellness
(integrating the physical, emotional, and cognitive dimensions). She also enjoys walking, running, and yoga.
