A lifejacket for each person
A sail- check for battens
A tiller/rudder
A bailer

1. Bring the boat alongside the dock
Step into the middle of the boat
Do not step onto the “deck” space near the bow
Stay low and keep your weight balanced when moving around
2. Put down the centerboard
3. Load your crew and equipment
4. Attach the tiller/rudder assembly to the stern, making sure that the tiller passes under the mainsheet traveler
5. Take the mainsheet off the boom, loosen and uncoil it
Tie a stopper or “figure 8” knot in the end
6. take the halyard off the cleat on the mast
Lower the boom and untie the other end of the halyard
Do not let either end hang free (halyards can climb the mast quickly)
7. Use a stunsail tack bend to tie the halyard to the head of the sail
8. Follow along the leach of the sail from the head to the clew and attach the clew to the outhaul.
9. Feed the luff of the sail into the track along the mast and pull the sail up using the halyard.
10. Once the sail is all the way up, make the halyard fast to the cleat on the side of the mast.
Make sure that you lock off the halyard on the cleat
“Make up” the halyard and hang it on the cleat
11. Adjust the tension on the luff of the sail with the downha

1. Uncleat the halyard and lower the sail
Watch out for the boom lowering as you lower the sail
Bring the boom and sail into the boat as you lower the sail
2. Untie the halyard from the head of the sail
Undo the outhaul from the clew of the sail
Undo the downhaul from the tack of the sail
3. Re-attach the end of the halyard you took off the head of the sail to the outhaul fitting
4. Raise the boom to about 90 degrees at the gooseneck by pulling on the halyard
Cleat the halyard off
5. Put a double half hitch into the mainsheet just above the block
Make up the mainsheet and hang it from the boom using a clove hitch
6. Remove the tiller/rudder
7. Have your partner climb out and hand them the equipment
8. The last person out pulls up the centerboard
9. Roll and put the sail in it’s sailbag.
