Western Connecticut and Elizabethtown Advance to the Championship Game of the 2003 Wellesley Soccer Invitational

Wellesley Will Play William Paterson in the Consolation Game

WELLESLEY, MASS.
–   With the game tied at one goal a piece, Elizabethtown, currently ranked 23rd in NCAA Division III women’s soccer,  used second half goals from Jessie Cromley (New Columbia, Pa.) and Becca Young (Macungie, Pa.) to defeat Wellesley College 1-0 in the second game of the 2003 Wellesley Soccer Invitational. 
 
Elizabethtown advances to play Western Connecticut State in the championship game of the 2003 Wellesley Invitational, Sunday, September 9 at 2 p.m. Western Connecticut State defeated William Paterson 4-3 in overtime to advance to the championship game.  Wellesley will face Western Connecticut at 12 p.m. in the consolation game of the invitational.
 
Elizabethtown took a 1-0 lead in the second minute of the game on a Wellesley own goal before Kelly Kehm (York, Pa.) evened the score for Wellesley in the 37th minute.  Kehm took a centering pass from Satya Twena (Newport Beach, Calif.) and blasted home a goal to the upper left corner.
 
The score remained tied into the second half before Cromley converted a far post shot in the 65th minute.  Young added an insurance goal for Elizabethtown in the 85th minute on a rebound from a breakaway save.
 
Wellesley keeper Elizabeth Senecal (Wellesley, Mass.) made seven saves on 11 shots, while Elizabethtown’s  Amy Weid (Turnersville, N.J.) stopped three shots.
 
In the first game of the afternoon, Western Connecticut overcame a 3-0 deficit netting four unanswered goals for a 4-3 overtime win.  Western Connecticut’s Nicole Corbin (Clinton, Conn.) tallied two goal and an assist, including the game-winner on a direct kick in ninth minute of overtime. 
 
William Paterson was led by Erin Finn (Kearny, N.J.) who netted one goal and passed off two assists.  Amy Weiszun (Wayne, N.J.)  and Kate McPhail (Sparta, N.J.) each scored a goal for the Pioneers.
