SPRINGFIELD DOWNS WELLESLEY SOCCER 3-1

Springfield, Mass. –   With the score tied at one all Molly Desroches (Belchertown, Mass.) netted the game winner and Annemarie Goodwin (Springfield, Mass.) added and insurance goal to lead Springfield past Wellesley 3-1 in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference soccer game, Saturday at Springfield. With the win Springfield improves to 6-7-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference while Wellesley falls to 5-6-2 and 2-3-1.
 
Springfield found itself on the scoreboard first as Jacqueline Landers (Niantic, Conn.) finished an assist from Meghan McTear (Barre, Vt.) with nine minutes remaining in the first half. Wellesley evened the score in the second half when Anna Stanton (Hanover, N.H.) crossed the ball to Alison Carney in the 51st minute. Carney’s goal was the third of her career.
 
The score remained tied at one goal apiece until the 75th minute when Desroches scored an unassisted game-winner. Goodwin sealed the win for Springfield with her first goal of the season in the 84th minute.
