KEHM, WELLESLEY EDGE BABSON 1-0
BABSON PARK, Mass. – Kelly Kehm (York, Pa..) scored the game-winning
goal with 6:55 left in regulation to lift visiting Wellesley College
to a 1-0 victory over host Babson College in New England Women's
and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer competition,
Tuesday.
After a first half dominated by midfield play, Wellesley (6-6-2
overall, 3-3-1 NEWMAC) turned up the offensive pressure in the second,
firing seven of its nine shots in the final 45 minutes. The Blue
nearly took
the lead with nine minutes left, but Babson senior goalkeeper Katie
McMackin (Needham, Mass.) made a tremendous leaping tip on a high,
arching shot by Wellesley sophomore Allison Kramer (Metuchen, N.J.).
Kehm finally put her team in front at the 83-minute mark, as she
broke free from a crowd in from of the net and fired a low shot
that found its way past McMackin and into the back left corner.
That would
prove to be the game-winner, as senior goalie Elizabeth Senecal
(Wellesley, Mass.) finished with four saves to earn the shutout
victory.
