WELLESLEY AND MOUNT HOLYOKE BATTLE TO SCORELESS DRAW
Wellesley, Mass. – Despite numerous
scoring chances, Wellesley and Mount Holyoke each had to settle
for a scoreless draw in a New England Women’s and Men’s
Athletic Conference soccer game, Saturday at Wellesley.
Both teams battled in a well-played game for a 110 minutes but neither
team could beat each other’s keeper to find the back of the
net. Wellesley held a large advantage in shots 17-6, but Mount Holyoke
goalkeeper Tiffany Picard (Belmont, N.H.) made six saves and played
aggressively in goal to cut off several opportunities. Wellesley’s
Elizabeth Senecal (Wellesley, Mass.) made three saves and controlled
the 18 for the Blue.
Wellesley had several scoring opportunities throughout the game
as Connie Spearnak (Fort Collins, Colo.) hit two cross bars and
had an attempt on a diving-header miss just wide of the net.
Wellesley is 3-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the NEWMAC while Mount Holyoke
is 3-5-1 and 0-1-1 in the NEWMAC.
