WELLESLEY BATTLES UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MAINE TO 0-0 TIE
Gorham, Maine. – After 110 minutes
of scoreless soccer and two overtime periods, Wellesley soccer battled
the University of Southern Maine to a 0-0 tie, Saturday at Southern
Maine.
Both teams played evenly as Wellesley recorded 11 shots and
Southern Maine attempted nine, but neither could find the back of
the net as both team’s keepers played solidly in goal.
Wellesley is now 0-2-1 while Southern Maine stands at 3-0-1.
Wellesley’s Elizabeth Senecal (Wellesley, Mass.) turned back
seven shots on the day to preserve the tie, while her Southern Maine
counterpart Marcy Ansley (Hudson, Mass.) stopped six.
Wellesley returns to action Monday, Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Simmons
College.
