WELLESLEY ROMPS FRAMINGHAM STATE 4-1

Wellesley, Mass. –   Holding a distinct advantage in shots at 21-11, Wellesley’s offensive pressure paid off as four players tallied a goal in Wellesley’s 4-1 win over Framingham State, Wednesday in a non-conference women’s soccer game at Wellesley.

Wellesley’s Anna Stanton (Hanover, N.H.) kick started the Blue’s offense with two assists in the first half of play.  Stanton found Satya Twena (Newport Beach, Calif.) on a cross from the right side in the seventh minute to open the scoring. Twena took the cross from Stanton and hit a one-time shot to the top right of the net.

Twelve minutes later Stanton connected with Connie Spearnak (Fort Collins, Colo.) off of a corner kick. Spearnak headed the ball into the back of the nets for the game-winner in the 18th minute for a 2-0 Wellesley advantage.  Framingham State’s Amber Goodreau (Ludlow, Mass.) cut the lead to one after collecting a lose ball at the top of the box and slotting home a shot to the lower left corner in the 20th minute.

It was as close as Framingham State would get however as Wellesley turned up the offensive pressure with 14 shots and two more goals in the second half. Kelly Kehm (York, Pa.) tallied an unassisted goal in the 65th minute and first-year Alison Carney (Healdsburg, Pa.) scored her second goal in as many games in the 70th minute.

Wellesley’s Elizabeth Senecal (Wellesley, Mass.) made four saves.  Framingham State goalkeeper Blair Eberman stopped 13. Wellesley improves to 2-2-1 with the win, while Framingham State evens out at 2-2.

Wellesley returns to action Tuesday, September 23 at 4:30 p.m. at Brandeis.
