BRANDEIS THUMPS WELLESLEY 4-1

Waltham, Mass. –   Melissa DeLowe (San Ramon, Calif.) scored two goals and added an assist to lead Brandeis, the fifth-ranked team in the New England Region, past Wellesley 4-1 in a non-conference women’s soccer game, Tuesday at Brandeis.

Brandeis remains undefeated and improves to 7-0 while Wellesley’s two-game win streak was snapped as the Blue stand at 2-3-1 overall.

Lauren Gregor (Holliston, Mass.) tallied the first Brandeis goal in the 18th minute heading in a cross from Lisa Kaplin (Armonk, N.Y.). Ten minutes later, Brandeis pushed the lead to two, as Delowe scored her first goal of the game in the 27th minute finishing a cross from Gregor.

Brandeis added two more goals in the second half as Delowe assisted Julie Golomb (Owings Mill, Md.) on a header just 31 seconds into the half. Golomb then found Delowe on a cross for her second goal of the game in the 65th minute and Brandeis’ final score of the game.

Wellesley’s lone goal of the game came in the 87th minute when sophomore Jen Marcello (N. Kingstown, R.I.) threaded a pass to classmate Allison Kramer (Metuchen, N.J.) for Kramer’s first goal of the season.

Wellesley’s Elizabeth Senecal (Wellesley, Mass.) made six saves for the Blue while Brandeis’ Natasha Pieciak (Three Rivers, Mass.) made five saves in the win.
