BRANDEIS THUMPS WELLESLEY 4-1
Waltham, Mass. – Melissa DeLowe
(San Ramon, Calif.) scored two goals and added an assist to lead
Brandeis, the fifth-ranked team in the New England Region, past
Wellesley 4-1 in a non-conference women’s soccer game, Tuesday
at Brandeis.
Brandeis remains undefeated and improves to 7-0 while Wellesley’s
two-game win streak was snapped as the Blue stand at 2-3-1 overall.
Lauren Gregor (Holliston, Mass.) tallied the first Brandeis goal
in the 18th minute heading in a cross from Lisa Kaplin (Armonk,
N.Y.). Ten minutes later, Brandeis pushed the lead to two, as Delowe
scored her first goal of the game in the 27th minute finishing a
cross from Gregor.
Brandeis added two more goals in the second half as Delowe assisted
Julie Golomb (Owings Mill, Md.) on a header just 31 seconds into
the half. Golomb then found Delowe on a cross for her second goal
of the game in the 65th minute and Brandeis’ final score of
the game.
Wellesley’s lone goal of the game came in the 87th minute
when sophomore Jen Marcello (N. Kingstown, R.I.) threaded a pass
to classmate Allison Kramer (Metuchen, N.J.) for Kramer’s
first goal of the season.
Wellesley’s Elizabeth Senecal (Wellesley, Mass.) made six
saves for the Blue while Brandeis’ Natasha Pieciak (Three
Rivers, Mass.) made five saves in the win.
