Twena Goal Paces Wellesley Past Brandeis
WALTHAM, MA - First-year Satya Twena scored an unassisted goal with 28:44 remaining in the game, and that proved to be the game-winner as the Wellesley College soccer team defeated Brandies, 3-1, Tuesday evening in a non-conference game.
Junior Bridget Jones got Wellesley on the board in the first half with a goal off an assist from senior Kristin Van Fleet with 9:06 remaining. After Brandeis tied the game less than three minutes into the second half, Twena came through with the biggest goal of her young career to give Wellesley a 2-1 lead. First-year Jessica Van Houten then capped the scoring with 20:54 remaining with an unassisted goal that finalized the score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Senecal made nine saves in the victory.
Wellesley competes at Smith Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
