Wheaton Tops Wellesley, 6-0, In NEWMAC Semifinal
NORTON, MA - The Wellesley College soccer team, playing in the NEWMAC Tournament, was eliminated in the semifinals by Wheaton, 6-0, Saturday afternoon.
Wheaton scored three goals in each half and took control of the game late in the first half, scoring three goals in a six-minute stretch. Wheaton, which is ranked third in the nation, improves to 19-0 overall and has won 30 straight home games.
Wellesley sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Senecal made eight saves in 64 minutes of action.
Wellesley falls to 7-6-2 and now awaits word on an ECAC Championship bid. ECAC bids are expected to be released Monday.
