E-mail: ccracoli@wellesley.edu Oneonta State Defeats Wellesley 3-1 Oneonta, N.Y. – Oneonta State used two first half goals and added another in the second to down Wellesley College 3-1 in women’s soccer action, Saturday in the first game of the Red Dragon Cup at Oneonta. Kelly Stevens scored an unassisted goal 13th minute to give the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead. Stevens capitalized on a failed Wellesley clear attempt following a corner kick. Alissa Karcz gave Oneonta a 2-0 lead heading into the half time break, netting the Red Dragons’ second goal of the half in the 33rd minute. Sanada Mujanovic rounded out the scoring for the Red Dragon’s finishing a penalty kick in the 75th minute after Heather Simpson was tripped in the box. Wellesley’s lone tally of the game came in the 85th minute as Lisa Andruszkiewic scored on a penalty kick.
Wellesley’s Elizabeth Senecal (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) made eight saves for the Blue while Oneonta State’s Laura Marcone and Erin Hodges split time in net for the Red Dragons. Marcone made one save while Hodges had no saves and allowed one goal. Wellesley returns to action Sunday at noon against Virginia Wesleyan in the consolation game of the Red Dragon Cup.
