Wellesley Soccer Falls to Montclair State in Blue’s Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Red Hawk first-years Lara Kaminski (Rahway, N.J.) and Natalia Sisti (Lincoln Park, N.J.) scored in the fifteenth and sixteenth minutes of the match to lift Montclair State University to a 2-0 victory over tournament host, Wellesley College. The Red Hawks (2-1-0) will face Eastern Connecticut in the Championship game of the Wellesley Invitational on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., while Wellesley (1-1-0) will play Simmons in the consolation contest slated for 12:00 p.m.

Kaminski put the Red Hawks on the board early when she fired a shot from five yards outside the box, over the head of sophomore keeper Samantha Littlejohn (Dayton, N.J.). Classmate Natalia Sisti added another tally for Montclair just over one minute later when she capitalized on a misplaced ball in the box and ripped a shot into the lower-right corner of the net for a 2-0 lead.

Montclair out-shot Wellesley 18-to-7 in the second frame, but neither team could find the back of the net in the later stanza as Montclair held on to the 2-0 victory.

Littlejohn finished with 11 saves for Wellesley, and Montclair senior goalkeeper Kristin Kuhmann (Beachwood, N.J.) matched Littlejohn’s stops as she turned away 11 shots for the Red Hawks as well.
