Springfield College Leads After First Day of NEWMAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships
MIT's Doria Holbrook won the One-Meter Diving title in a final that featured seven divers surpassing the NCAA qualifying standard. Holbrook, who totaled 502.90 for the six-dive final, was followed by Erin White (Springfield) with 443.65, Cara Loux (Springfield) with 437.75, Kate Sorenson (Wellesley) with 435.80, Melissa Nelson (Springfield) with 431.95, Michelle Reggio (Springfield) with 430.00, and Natasha Skowronski (Springfield) with 399.95.
At the other end of the pool, Babson's Meg Lynch broke her own NEWMAC record in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:09.47, while Wellesley's Savanna Johnson set a NEWMAC record in the 50 Freestyle, with a time 23.73. Earlier in the day, Johnson clocked a 23.63 in her leadoff leg of the 200 Freestyle Relay, which is under the NCAA A-cut standard.
