Babson Edges Wellesley 5-4
Wellesley, Mass. – Fran Russo battled Meredith
Friedman (Watchung, N.J./Watchung Hills Regional) to a 4-6, 6-7
(5), 6-2 victory in the deciding match at no. 3 singles to lead
Babson 7-2, 5-1 NEWMAC to a 5-4 women's tennis win over Wellesley,
4-2, 4-2 NEWMAC Tuesday at Wellesley.
Babson took the lead 2-1 after picking up wins at no. 1 and no.
2 doubles as Daniela Hofer and Andrea Fang defeated Stephanie Eckhart
(Lancaster, Pa./Conastog Valley) and Elizabeth Okasako (Wilton,
Conn./Wilton) 8-3 at no. 1 doubles. Erin Sev and Russo defeated
Esther Handy (Olympia, Wash./Olympia) and Kirsi Hakkinen (Cincinnati,
Ohio/Sycamore) 8-4.
Wellesley returns to action Saturday, October 5 when it will face
Mt. Holyoke on the road in NEWMAC action.
