The 2007-08 version of Wellesley Basketball is a blend of youth and experience. With only one senior on the roster (Courtney Pelley from Leicester, MA), junior Co-Captains Jessica Duff (Abington, England) and Courtney Richter (Sinking Spring, PA), as well as classmate Julia Thomas (Concord, CA) have led Wellesley to a 5-10 win/loss record (2-3 in NEWMAC play).

Without question, one of the season highlights thus far was our week-long trip to Daytona Beach and Orlando to participate in the Land of Magic Classic. Made possible in large part due to a significant gift, combined with previous years' fundraising efforts, we flew to Orlando on December 27th to play two games, workout on the beach, sightsee, and forge a team identity. Mission accomplished!

We returned to campus January 2nd for two-a-day practices in preparation for Conference play more fit, focused, and comfortable with our emerging roles and responsibilities. Our recent 84-75 double overtime win over crosstown rival Babson College is a testament to our steadily improving individual and team development.

As Wellesley's wintersession comes to a close this weekend, I anticipate a final month of NEWMAC basketball that is filled with competitive challenges, leading (hopefully) to more significant victories. Stay tuned!
