Greetings Wellesley College Softball Fans!
Our fall season has concluded and the Wellesley Blue are now in off-season training mode! They are hitting the weight room and getting strong for the start of the 2010 season! This fall we were pleased to welcome back eight former Blue Softball Athletes to our second annual Alumnae Game. While the Alumnae crew put forth a strong showing, the current Blue were able to pull out a win with a final score of 2-1. We think Chelle, class of 81’ (our umpire) may have called a few more strikes on the alumnae but we certainly appreciate her time and efforts!
We want to thank all of our alumnae for coming back! We hope to keep this tradition going strong.
We also had a great showcase of talent during our fall tournament. We welcomed Emerson College, Merrimack College and St. Anselm College to join us in a very competitive match up. The weekend was a great indicator of exciting things to come this spring. We would also like to welcome Allie Fox, class of 2008 to our coaching staff! Allie will work with our pitching staff alongside former Wellesley pitching coach Betsy Ahearn. Betsy returns as our pitching consultant this year in a part-time role while Allie will work full time with the pitchers and catchers.
The 2009-2010 Blue Softball roster has been finalized. The squad of 19 will offer great depth for the upcoming season. We are looking forward to another great trip south for spring break. The team will compete in Dot Richardson’s spring tournament taking place at the National Training Center in Clermont, FL.
Stay tuned for more information regarding our winter softball clinics to take place in February and March! Learn offensive mechanics and defensive fundamentals from the Blue athlete’s and coaching staff.
As always we want to thank FOWCA for all of their support especially for their recent contribution to help build dugouts!
Greetings Wellesley College Softball Fans!
After another winning season this past spring for the Blue, ending with an overall record of 21-14-1 and 12-3-1 in the NEWMAC, the team is gearing up for their 6th season in Wellesley Softball History! After a very productive summer, we are looking forward to a great fall season. We are happy to welcome a large incoming class of 2013. The first year class is very diverse and hail from a wide range of places including: Hawaii, New Mexico, California, Illinois, and New York. Tryouts for the 2009-2010 squad will take place through the duration of the fall season.
Mark your calendars for the weekend of October 3rd. Homecoming, parent weekend, our softball alumnae game, and our fall play date will all take place. The softball team will host our 2nd annual Alumnae Game at 11:00am on Saturday the 3rd, followed by our fall tournament on Sunday the 4th. Competitors for the round robin tournament will include: Division II schools, St. Anselm College and Merrimack College and Division III, Emerson College. We will also be celebrating Parent Weekend throughout the entire weekend. We are hoping you can all join us for a fun-filled weekend of softball!
We are pleased to announce that Assistant Coach, Lacy Gillotti will be returning to the program for her second year. In addition to Coach Gillotti, we would like to welcome back to the program Acadia and Tobin, our most faithful canine fans. We would also like to thank FOWCA for the tremendous support in helping to finance our spring break trip this year.
