WebbWellesley volleyball's spring season begins this week. The NCAA allows five weeks of practice in the spring for all fall sports, along with one competition date. With a strong core of returning players, we'll focus our limited practice time on honing our passing skills, cleaning up our blocking, and fine-tuning our hitting mechanics.

Our spring tournament will be April 19 at Bryant College in Rhode Island. This is a Division II tournament that will provide excellent experience. We're looking forward to the competition.

On the recruiting front, Amanda Duritsch, an "early decision" volleyball prospect, has committed to Wellesley for the fall of 2008. A 6'0" middleblocker from Troy, Ohio, Amanda will be a huge asset to the program. We have several other quality prospects in the "early evaluation" and "regular decision" pools, so we're looking forward to a particularly strong class of 2012. This incoming class, combined with a talented set of returners from the 2007 NEWMAC championship squad, will make 2008 a succesful season for Wellesley volleyball.

Best wishes for 2008.

Dorothy
