Wellesley Cross Country Athletes Earn Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently announced its 2007 Division III Women's All-Academic Team.  Senior Kerry Shanley (Marshfield, Mass.) and junior Jessica Weng (Paramus, N.J.) each received the honor; it is the first selection for both.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and must place in the top 25 percent of the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.  Shanley and Weng were Wellesley's top two finishers at this season's regionals, each setting a new personal best time as Wellesley placed 15th in a field of 47 teams.

The Blue finished the season with a 123-47 record, including wins at the Pop Crowell Invitational and Wellesley Invitational, and took third at the NEWMAC Championships.
