Wellesley College Cross Country Takes Second at Smith Invitational

Results

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. –  The Wellesley College cross country team posted a second-place finish at the Smith Invitational on Saturday.  The Blue collected 80 points to finish behind MIT’s 37 in the 12-team field.  Freshman Nicole Bucala of MIT won the 5,000-meter event in 19:46.78.

Senior co-captain Kerry Shanley (Marshfield, Mass.) was Wellesley’s top finisher, recording a time of 20:25.90 for sixth place overall.  Jessica Weng (Paramus, N.J.) also cracked the top ten, finishing in 21:03.81.  Finishing in the top 30 were Maura Tucker (Albany, N.Y.), Amy Damon (Livermore, Maine) and Hannah Sholder (Pittsburgh, Penn.)

Wellesley will race next Saturday at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
