Wellesley Athletes Race at Husky Track Invitational
DEDHAM, Mass. – Wellesley College athletes recently competed at Northeastern University's Husky Invitational. Five "Blue" runners qualified for the Division III New England Championships at the event.
iIn the 10,000-meter race, Katie Gosling finished fourth overall with a time of 42:16.00. She beat the qualifying standard for the NE Championships by a second and a half.
Madeline Harms notched a fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meters with a time of 18:51.99. Aside from qualifying for the New England Championships, her time also qualified her to run in the Division III ECAC Championships.
In her first ever collegiate steeplechase, Amy Damon qualified for the NE Championships with a time of 12:50.36.
Clare Egan improved on a personal best time, recording a 4:52.38 in the 1,500-meter race. Her time also improves on the NE qualifying time she posted last week. Also running the 1,500-meter event, Maura Tucker finished in a time of 5:15.40, good for a 12th-place finish.
Running the 800-meters, were Egan, Katie Watson, and Tucker. Egan placed third with a NE and ECAC qualifying time of 2:20.49 while Watson recorded a 2:32.78 and Tucker finished in 2:40.14.
In the 400-meters, Ashley Muller took seventh place with a time of 1:03.98. Rounding out the action for Wellesley, Savanna Johnson competed in both the 100- and 200-meter races. She finished the 100-meters in 13.89 and ran the 200-meter event in 28.70.
