Wellesley Athletes Compete at Husky Indoor Track Carnival
BOSTON, Mass. – Several Wellesley College athletes competed at last weekend's Husky Indoor Track and Field Carnival hosted by Northeastern University. During the meet, four Wellesley runners qualified for the Division III New England Championships.
In the 5,000-meters, Kerry Shanley took ninth-place in a personal best time of 18:16.24. Her time, which was the number four Wellesley indoor performance of all-time, qualified her for the D-III New England Championship, the New England Intercollegiate Championship and the ECAC Division III Championship.
In the mile run, Jessica Weng ran a 5:24.99 to take fourth in section two which qualified her for D-III New Englands. Liz Hubertz also competed in the mile, taking first in section three in a time of 5:45.92.
Running the 500-meters, Ashley Muller took first in section five in a time of 1:25.65. Her time, a new Wellesley school record, also qualified her for the D-III New England Championships.
Rounding out the day's action, Jessica Weng, Maura Tucker, and Sarah Ifrah competed in the 3,000-meter event. Weng took 10th place overall in a time of 10:49.23, shattering her previous personal best by almost :30 seconds. Her time qualified her for the D-III New England Championships as well as the ECAC D-III Championships. In section two of the event, Tucker took first in a time of 11:26.28 while Ifrah had a personal best time of 11:37.06.
