Wellesley's Lekas Named NEWMAC Player of the Week
WELLESLEY, Mass - Junior forward Callie Lekas (Brewster, Mass.) earned NEWMAC Player-of-the-Week honors after netting a hat trick in Wellesley's 4-1 win over Gordon College, the
Blue's only action this week. Lekas opened up the game by converting on a
penalty stroke to give Wellesley a 1-0 lead. Just over eight minutes later,
she scored again, pushing the lead to 2-0. Later in the game, Lekas added an
insurance goal for the Blue, who snapped Gordon's five-game win
streak.
Lekas and the Blue return to action on Wednesday, September 24, at 4:30, when they host Wesleyan in a non-conference match-up.
