Wellesley Squash Takes Second at 2007 Women's Collegiate Team Championships
Northampton, MA – The Wellesley College squash team took second place in the inaugural 2007 U.S. Women’s Collegiate Team Championship at Smith College. The Blue went 1-1 on Saturday with a 9-1 win over Smith and an 8-1 loss to Mount Holyoke who took the title.
In a 9-1 win over Smith, Wellesley lost only four out of 32 games played getting match victories from the second through tenth positions.
Against Mount Holyoke, the Blue’s Oly Fernando (Manila, Philippines) was the lone winner for Wellesey. Fernando picked up a 3-2 (9-10, 9-6, 9-4, 9-1, 6-9) win over Hillela Simpson for her second victory of the day.
Wellesley returns to action December 1st and 2nd as they take on Hamilton, Smith, Wesleyan, and William Smith at the Wesleyan Invitational Tournament.
