Wellesley's Kate Sorenson Named NEWMAC Diver of the Week
WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College senior diver
Kate Sorensen (Bolton, MA) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Diver of the Week for the period ending January 25. This is the third weekly honor for Sorenson this season.
Sorenson led Wellesley to a win at the Seven Sisters Championship with victories on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Her score of 474.00 (11 dives) broke her own school record on the 1-meter board and bested her nearest competitor by 91 points. In the 3-meter event, Sorenson won with a 503.15, over 100 points better than the second place finisher. Both of her scores hit NCAA qualifying standards.
Wellesley Swimming & Diving is back in action on Saturday, hosting Mount Holyoke at Chandler Pool at 7:00pm.
