Stubblebine and Siddique Named NEWMAC Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
WELLESLEY, MA – The Wellesley College doubles tennis team of Meghan Stubblebine (Bridgeville, PA) and Mohona Siddique (Chevy Chase, MD) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Team of the Week for the period ending October 14, 2007.
In a 6-3 Wellesley victory over MIT, Stubblebine and Siddique teamed up to win an 8-3 match over the MIT pair of Pikhart and Diskin. With Wellesley down 0-2 in the match, Stubblebine and Siddique’s win was the catalyst for the comeback victory for the Blue.
In singles play, both Stubblebine and Siddique were also winners against MIT. Stubblebine clinched the Wellesley win with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win at number-five singles while Siddique was an easy 6-0, 6-1 winner at number-six singles.
The Wellesley tennis team is currently 8-1 on the season and a perfect 7-0 in the NEWMAC. They will next be in action at the NEWITT Tournament at Amherst this weekend.
