Wantanabe/Stubblebine Named NEWMAC Doubles Team of the Week
BABSON PARK, Mass. - Wellesley College tennis players Marie Watanabe (Houston, TX) and Meghan Stubblebine (Cumming, GA) were awared NEWMAC Doubles Team of the Week for the period ending October 11, 2009.
Wantanabe, a sophomor, and Stubblebine, did not surrender a point at second doubles, as a 2-0 week for the pair translated into a 2-0 week for Wellesley. Against MIT, the duo posted an 8-0 victory over Kerry Weinberg and Jenny Dohlman in a 6-3 Blue victory. Later in the week, Wantanabe and Stubblebine cruised to a 8-0 win over Vanessa Senecal and Erin Woodbury as the Blue swept Springfield.
Wellesley's #2 doubles team, Wantanabe and Stubblebine are 3-1 on the season, with a 2-0 mark in the NEWMAC.
The Wellesley tennis returns to action on Tuesday at home with a 5:30pm match-up against Babson.
