Characteristics:
* Leaves dark green, divided into 3 heart-shaped leaflets.
* Flowers 5-petalled, white or pink with narrow pink veins, 1/2-3/4".
* Height: 3-4".

Natural History:
* Flowers May - July.
* Habitat: Forest floors.
* Range: Canada and the northern edge of the United States, more south in the mountains.
* Native.

Connections!
* The word "sorrel" comes from the Old French surele, and earlier from sur, or "sour".
