* Leaves hairy, rounded, with 3 coarse-toothed leaflets on a slender, running stalk.
* Flowers white, with 5 round petals.
* Fruits red, round, with seeds embedded in the flesh.
* Height: 3-6".

Natural History:
* Flowers April - June.
* Fruits soon after flowering.
* Habitat: Meadows, open places and roadsides.
* Range: Throughout North America.
* Native.

Connections!
* Common strawberries are a delicious treat on a late-spring ramble through the meadows. The cultivated strawberry resulted from an accidental hybridization of common and beach strawberries in Holland in the 1750's.
