Characteristics:
* Flower deep pink, resembling snapdragons and heads of turtles. The white turtlehead, Chelone glabra, has white blossoms.
* Leaves broad, toothed, opposite.
* Height: 1-2 1/2'.

Natural History:
* Flowers August - October.
* Habitat: Wet woodlands.
* Range: Southern United States, introduced to southern New England.
* Introduced.

* Leaf tea is sometimes used medicinally, to stimulate appetite and cure worms, fever, and jaundice.
