Research interests: My specialty is microbiology and, in particular, cyanobacterial biochemistry. We are studying the effects of environmental stress on cyanobacteria using techniques such as NMR spectroscopy, enzyme assays, gel electrophoresis and proteomics. We are also studying chromium and lead resistant bacteria that have been isolated from heavy metal rich soils.

Research interests: My specialty is aquatic ecology, and I study ecological processes at the community and population scale in lakes, streams, and coastal waters. I work with plankton communities and fish, and my current work focuses on how artificial night lighting affects the movements, behavior and predator-prey interactions of zooplankton and fish. My additional research interests include aquatic food webs, disturbance ecology, and urban ecology.
