100 Word Summary: Born in 1900, Howard H. Aiken was destined for a life of genius. In his lifetime, he would hold many titles: electrical engineer, physicist, Harvard University Professor, computer trainer, founder and director of the Harvard Computation Laboratory and Aiken Industries, and inventor. He is best know for his invention of the first automatic computer also known as a programmable mechanical computer. Invented in 1937, International Business Machines (IBM) would later build his discovery between 1938 and 1944.
