100 Word Summary About HyperTalk:
HyperTalk is the scripting language of HyperCard, software developed by Apple in the 1980s. As a scripting language, HyperTalk ressembles Pascal in its syntax, but it works very closely with the tools of HyperCard. Thus, it is necessary to understand what HyperCard is to comprehend how HyperTalk works. HyperCard makes full use of the mouse in order to design stacks. Objects on the screen can be moved around with the mouse. What role does HyperTalk play in all this? HyperTalk is used to create handlers for the objects on the screen. For example, a script in HyperTalk would be used to provide the tell the computer what action to take when an object on the screen has be clicked on by the mouse. In this way, HyperTalk functions intimately with HyperCard.
