Counseling

For Students
CWS staff advise students at all stages of the career development process, from career exploration to landing a job. During the academic year, CWS counselors are available from 12:30 - 4 p.m. for Drop-Ins, an assessment and guidance session of up to 10 minutes. Individual counseling is available by appointment. Students are asked to visit Drop-In before scheduling their first counseling appointment.

For Alumnae
CWS staff advise alumnae at all stages of the career development process, from career exploration to landing a job. An alumna may schedule an appointment for either an on-site (one hour) or telephone (30 minute) session by calling 781.283.2352 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. EST.

For Faculty/Staff
CWS staff are a resource for faculty and staff at all stages of the career development process, from career exploration to landing a job. A faculty or staff member may schedule an appointment for either an on-site (one hour) or telephone (30 minute) session by coming to the Center (GRH450), sending an email to Sue Regnier, or calling 781.283.2006 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

CWS Library
The CWS Library maintains an extensive collection of resources for career development. Library staff and student Peer Resource Advisors are available to help access resources on assessing career interests and skills, exploring professional fields, researching graduate programs, or conducting a job search. Annotated bibliographies for selected resources for over a dozen fields, as identified by the CWS Librarian, may be found on this web site; complete bibliographies are located in the CWS Library and may be mailed out upon request.

The W Network
An outstanding resource, The W Network is the single most valuable tool for exploring career options and opportunities. Listings of alumnae throughout the U.S. and abroad (over 30,000 strong) who are willing to share information about their careers are located in the CWS Library. Organized alphabetically by alumna name, geographic area, career field, and employer. If you need additional assistance with your search, please call 781.283.2355 or email egammons@wellesley.edu.

Alumnae Student Programs
Alumnae participate in many career programs and panels for students throughout the year. Click here for information on the largest programs. Check the Workshops and Programs Calendar for the schedule of all CWS programs and panels.

Internships
Students seeking internships are supported through numerous CWS services including monthly Internship Orientation sessions and an internship database. The internship checklist covers finding and managing an internship, and makes reference to available resources.

Recruiting
Seniors may take advantage of an on-campus employment recruiting program in which over 150 companies participate. Information meetings are held each fall. Attendance is required in order to participate in recruiting. Check the CWS calendar for dates and times.

Not-for-Profit Networking Fairs
Students and alumnae can learn about internship and employment opportunities through the not-for-profit networking fair held on campus in the spring. In addition, the CWS co-sponsors not-for-profit Fairs in New York City and Philadelphia each spring. Transportation is provided to the NYC Fair for a nominal fee.

Internet Job Bulletin
Job listings targeted to Wellesley students may be found on monsterTRAK. Students living off-campus or abroad and alumnae may access monsterTRAK using a password. Call 781.283.2352 for more information and Wellesley's password.

Graduate Advising
Counselors are a resource for applying to graduate and professional schools. An on-campus graduate school visiting program, panel discussions on law school and medical school, and notification of off-campus programs are also provided. Students are advised to consult with their faculty advisors first regarding graduate programs.

Fellowships
Committed to assisting students and alumnae applying for national scholarships and fellowships, the CWS provides current information on procedures and deadlines, encourages qualified applicants to apply, and offers advice on essay preparation.

Community Service
All members of the College community can connect with not-for-profit agencies seeking volunteer assistance or create new volunteer projects with the CWS. Listings of volunteer opportunities are housed in the Center of Work and Service; a database is being developed. Workshops on serving on-and off-campus and on creating service projects in student organizations are offered. Look for events on the CWS programs and workshops and community service calendars, and in the community service e-newsletter.

Reference Service
The CWS maintains files of faculty and employer references and sends out designated letters upon request for a nominal processing fee. Details may be found in the Policy on Reference Service.
