CWS Summer Stipend Program Eligibility Guidelines

All sophomores, juniors, and seniors, including Davis Scholars, are eligible for the CWS Summer Stipend Program. Graduating seniors are only eligible for the Barbara Bush Award for Volunteerism and the Oprah Winfrey Award for Volunteerism. Each student is required to secure her own internship.

Students may submit one applications to the CWS Summer Stipend Program for up to two different internships they have found on their own. In addition, they may submit another application to any of the six Named Programs. Click here for the complete list of stipend fund descriptions.

During their four years at Wellesley College, students may receive only one CWS stipend. Each academic year, students may receive only one funded internship experience from the college. A stipend and a funded internship may not be undertaken simultaneously.

The student must apply for the position(s) listed on her stipend application(s) prior to submitting the application, but she need not be accepted to the internship prior to the stipend deadline. The student must communicate the CWS selection process and her funding status to the appropriate person at the proposed sponsoring organization(s), informing them of the April 3, 2009 notification.

Stipends are nontransferable. If a student receives a stipend for one of the organizations to which she has submitted her application, but she is not accepted by the organization indicated on her application, the stipend will be withdrawn. She will not be able to transfer the funds to her second application or to any other internship. A stipend may only be used for the organization listed on the application.
