Graduate Fellowships Requiring Campus Review


For Wellesley College Graduating Seniors Only:

    Susan Rappaport Knafel '52 Scholarship for Foreign Study- Funds a year of study in a foreign institution to pursue a specific subject that requires contact with foreign scholars, libraries or other resources. Candidates must be members of the graduating class who display a desire for learning and an ability to impart knowledge and judgment to others. Open to all nationalities.

    Susan Rappaport Knafel '52 Traveling Fellowship - Funds a year of purposeful travel abroad to explore a particular interest with the requirement that the recipient not remain in the same area for more than 2 months. Candidates must be members of the graduating class who display an interest in and an acceptance of others, and who display the ethos of a Wellesley education. Open to all nationalities.

    St. Andrews Scholarships - Provide funds toward one year of study at a Scottish university to graduating seniors of Scottish descent who are U.S. citizens residing or attending school within 250 miles of New York State. Must show financial need.

    Thomas J. Watson Fellowships - Offer graduating seniors a year of independent, purposeful exploration and travel outside the U.S. Open to all nationalities.

    Woodrow Wilson-Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellowships - Provides seniors of color committed to a career teaching in public elementary or secondary schools a summer internship and assistance with graduate school tuition. (U.S. citizens and permanent residents)

For Graduating Seniors and Graduates of Wellesley College:

    Carnegie Junior Fellows Program - Provides a substantive work experience for graduating seniors or graduates from the previous year who have a career interest in international affairs. Monthly salary plus medical and life insurance. Open to all nationalities.

    Chinese Government Scholarships - Cover Post-Bac Study in China for the upcoming academic year. Check back for details.

    Churchill Scholarships - Offer American students aged 19 to 26 of exceptional ability and achievement the opportunity to pursue one year of graduate study in engineering, mathematics, or the sciences at Churchill College Cambridge University. (Restricted to U.S. citizens.)

    Fulbright U.S. Student Program - Covers one year of study at an academic institution in selected countries or you may apply for an English teaching assistantship instead of a year of study in selected countries in the following regions: Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Western Europe and the Western Hemisphere. Candidates must be U.S. citizens with a B.A. before the beginning date of award and must have language proficiency to communicate with people of the host country and to carry out the proposed study.

    Luce Scholars Program - Provides a ten-month internship to young leaders established in their career fields who have no significant experience in Asia or Asian studies. (Restricted to U.S. citizens under age 30.)

    Marshall Scholarships - Offer one or two years of study in any discipline at any British university mainly at the graduate level to U.S. citizens who have graduated from their undergraduate institution after April 2007.

    George J. Mitchell Scholarships - Offer U.S. citizens between the ages of 18 and 30 one year of graduate study in any discipline offered by an institution of higher learning in Ireland or Northern Ireland.

    Rhodes Scholarships - Offer U.S. citizens 18 through 23 two or possibly three years of study at Oxford University at the undergraduate or graduate level. Citizens from certain additional countries are eligible to apply through their own country.

    Mary Elvira Stevens Traveling Fellowship - For travel or study outside the United States in order to benefit from the knowledge and understanding of a global education. Any scholarly, artistic, or cultural purpose may be considered. Candidates must be at least 25 years of age in the year of application, 2009.

    Wellesley College Graduate Fellowships- A number of fellowships for graduate study or research are open to graduating seniors and graduates of Wellesley College. Open to all nationalities.
