Student Recruiting Policies & Guidelines
In keeping with Wellesley's Honor Code, the Center for Work and Service assumes that all students will conduct themselves with integrity in every aspect of their internship and job searches, as well as their graduate school application processes. The Honor Code applies to students' work with potential employers, with CWS staff, and with other members of the college community.
The Center for Work and Service provides students with the opportunity to participate in on-campus interviews with a multitude of organizations and companies. Participation in such activities is a privilege extended to both the students and prospective employers.
- All students who wish to participate in the Recruiting Program must meet the following prerequisites:
- Attend a Recruiting Meeting at the beginning of the fall semester. Click here to view the dates of Recruiting Meetings.
- Register on monsterTRAK.com by 12 p.m. (EST) on Friday, September 16, 2005.
- Submit one hard copy of your resume to the recruiting office by 12 p.m. on December 5, 2005. This will be archived.
- Do not misrepresent yourself when submitting application materials (resumes, SAT scores, transcripts, etc.) to prospective employers. Below are guidelines for you to follow as you draft your application documents:
- You may round up your GPA to the nearest tenth digit, i.e. 3.36 can be rounded up to 3.4. Rounding to the tenth digit should only be used when applying for companies through InterviewTRAK. Check the CWS resume Web pages for further GPA information.
- The Registrar's Office has your SAT/ACT scores on file. Be sure to verify your scores with them.
- When you indicate fluency in a foreign language(s), be aware that some interviewers may conduct the interview in that language.
- Students should dress in appropriate business attire for interviews.
- You may cancel an interview online through your monsterTRAK account up to 72 hours before the scheduled appointment. Be sure to access important dates for Senior Recruiting and Junior Recruiting and check when interview schedules freeze.
- To cancel your appointment after the schedule is frozen, you must notify the recruiting office immediately. If canceling less than two days in advance, you will be required to speak with the Director of Recruiting before continuing in the recruiting program.
- If you do not attend your scheduled interview (no-show), you must send a letter of apology to the employer with a copy sent to the Director of Recruiting. You will be removed from the recruiting program if you have more than two no-shows.
- Contact employers directly to use your offer(s) from summer employment to accelerate your interview process and/or to secure interviews. Note that employers will verify your summer offer(s).
- Please respond to any offers on or before the given deadline.
- You may accept only ONE job offer. Please remember that a verbal agreement is considered to be equally as binding as a written agreement. Once you have accepted an offer, please take the following steps:
- Give a written and/or verbal decline to all pending offers.
- Notify the recruiting office so that we can remove you from any interview schedules.
- If you have any pending applications in monsterTRAK, please withdraw your applications so that employers will not select you for interviews.
- Cancel all interviews that you have arranged with other companies (including second round interviews, resume referrals, etc.).
- At the end of the recruiting season, we will ask you to complete a survey about your recruiting experience. Please fill out the information as thoroughly as possible. The information that you provide is extremely helpful for us in improving the recruiting program.
- Review the Employer Policies & Guidelines on interviews and offers to better understand your participation in recruiting.
Employers have the right to verify ALL pertinent information
on your application upon extending an offer. Some employers require
drug tests and a credit history as a part of their background
investigation. Offers may be revoked if an applicant does not
pass the background investigation process.
Thank you for carefully adhering to these policies and guidelines. If you have any questions, please contact Irma Tryon, Director of Recruiting, at ext. 2489 or itryon@wellesley.edu.
