Creating a Favorite or Bookmark in your browser to the Campus Calendar

You can create a bookmark or favorite for either the default view of the calendar (today's Featured events) or for a particular view that you choose. For example, you may prefer a week view of the Arts/Lectures category; building managers may prefer the calendar to open to the location category for their building. After you create a bookmark or favorite for the calendar using one of the recommended Web browsers you will need to edit it so that it will use the current day, not the day when you created the favorite.

Note:  After you create and edit the bookmark or favorite it will take you to the view that you chose for the current day or week -- if you use it when your browser is at any Web page other than the calendar. However if you are already viewing a different day of the calendar when you use the favorite, you will need to navigate to the correct day.

Begin by navigating to the view of the calendar for which you want to save a bookmark. The main default page of the calendar is https://calendar.wellesley.edu/wv3 . If you would rather bookmark a different non-default view, you can choose among various event and location categories, grid or list display, week or day views etc. Instructions for navigating the calendar are found in these Help files: Instructions for using the calendar on-campus or off-campus.

After you have found the view of the calendar that you want to bookmark, follow the instructions below to create and edit a bookmark for your browser.

Internet Explorer 6 for Windows

  1. Favorites >Add to Favorites to add a favorite to the current calendar view. Before clicking OK, give the favorite an appropriate name.
  2. Next you will need to edit the favorite by removing today's date. From the Favorites menu find the favorite that you have just added.
  3. Right-click the favorite and and choose Properties.
  4. Click the Web Document tab.
  5. Edit the URL, depending on whether you desire a) or b) below.

    a) If you want your favorite to go to the main default view of the calendar, in the URL field, delete everything after https://calendar.wellesley.edu/wv3. Click OK.

    b) If you navigated to a particular non-default view of the calendar, in the URL field, delete only the part of the URL that is for today's date so that the favorite will not use only this specific date. It will be in the form spdt=xxxxxxxx where xxxxxxxx is the year, month and day. Do not delete any other characters. For example, if the URL is
    https://calendar.wellesley.edu/wv3/wv3_servlet/urd/ run/wv_space.WeekList?spdt=20060826, spfilter=41287,lbdviewmode=grid

you should delete only the letters in red.
