Wellesley College Campus Maps: Jewett Arts Center and the Davis Museum & Cultural Center

Jewett
Jewett Arts Center formally opened on October 18, 1958 and houses the Music and Art Departments. The art wing consists of the Art Department offices, classrooms, studios, photography darkrooms, video and computer facilities, the Art Library, and a Student Gallery for exhibiting student work. The music wing contains the Music Library, listening rooms, practice studios, classrooms, and Music Department offices. The Jewett Auditorium, a 320-seat theater, is used for music performances, theater events, lectures, and symposia. Given by the Jewett family, the arts center was named for Mary Cooper Jewett Gaiser '23 and Catherine Margaret Weyerhauser Jewett. The sculpture in the academic quadrangle includes works by Michael Steiner and Jules Olitski.

Handicapped Parking Parking: Parking is on the driveway running between the Academic Quad and Severance Green. Doors: The only doorway into the Arts Center which doesn't involve steps is also on that driveway, at the south wall of Jewett. From there, there is elevator access.

Davis Museum
One of the Boston area's premier institutions for the study and enjoyment of the visual arts, the Davis Museum and Cultural Center opened in 1993. Kathryn Wasserman Davis, '28, was the benefactor. Spanning the 3,000 years of the history of art, the Museum's holdings include almost 5,000 objects. It is the showcase for a distinguished and wide-ranging permanent collection, for an ambitious schedule of original exhibitions, and for a variety of programs addressed to students, scholars, and the public at large. Lunch and light refreshments are available at the Collins Cafe, which is part of this center.

Collins
The Collins Cinema and Cafe opened with the Davis Museum in October of 1993 and was made possible by gifts from Dee Dann Collins '42 and her children, Dorothy Collins Weaver '68, Nancy Collins Fisher '72, and Michael Collins. The Collins Cinema seats 170. The Cafe offers both indoor and outdoor seating.

Handicapped Parking Parking: Parking is available at the lot north of the museum (in between the museum and college road). Doors: The main doors of the Cafe and Museum are wheelchair accessible.
